Something Hiding Underneath

Something forever plump and firm above the ground.....
the itch forever of something small but ripening underneath.

Nebraska's poet laurate, William Kloefkorn, wrote that. It's been painted on a wall mural in a nearby town for as long as I've lived here - twenty-four years.

I thought of it again when I took this picture. Is that a promise of spring hiding under all that ice?

Splendid pic, Miss Alice! I didn't know you'd lived in Nebraska that long. Did you get married, and then move here in the same year? And whatever brought you to Seward back then (if that is indeed the nearby town referred to)? I guess I'm not as up on your history as I might be.

I was going to ask if Seward was the town in question too...

Anyhow I remember the mural there!

Pat - Yep, we moved here right after marrying. I don't know what took me to Seward - just passing through, I guess.
